I Will Make Your Writing Better |
||||||||||||
| WHO
I AM: My name is Bill Folman. I am a professional writer whose first novel was released this year by a major publisher to overwhelmingly positive reviews (to learn more about my writing, click here). I am highly educated, with an MFA in film from Boston University and a BA in American Studies from Brandeis University. I have taught students of all ages to improve their writing, from elementary school kids to college freshmen to adults. I am a writing tutor who is a whiz at turning application essays into winners (for college, grants, tenure, you name it). I also have extensive experience with novels and screenplays. |

| WHAT
I DO: I help you make your writing better. I sit down with you (or your child) one-on-one, and go over what you’ve written. If you haven't written anything yet, we start at the beginning. I help you to focus your ideas, improve the structure of your work, eliminate unnecessary words, and write more cleanly and persuasively. Whatever the project, whatever your needs, I will work with you to make sure your writing is as strong as can be. |

MY
PHILOSOPHY: |
||||||||||||
| Good writing comes from clarity of thought. If you are having trouble with your writing, 9 times out of 10 it is because you don't know what it is you are trying to say. Clarifying your intentions is the first key to good writing and effective structure. The second is empathy. Putting yourself in the mind of your reader will help you to know when you are writing persuasively and when you are being boring or confusing. The third key is persistence. Don't be content with something that is merely okay. Rewrite and revise until you've done the best you possibly can. Writing is hard work, and there are no shortcuts to success. | ||||||||||||
